New Chapter In California?

gc_4mini.gifRichard, a Board of Director who lives in California wrote to me yesterday about a student in his class (he is a professor at Grossmont College) that is looking for a community service activity and is interested in D.A.N.!  I already asked him to send the name and email of the student so we can make contact.

However, I would like us all to be on the same page with this new chapter and if we can, any one of you can take the lead in starting up this new chapter in california.  Maybe we can assign a "chapter corrdinator" TechMall_sm.jpgfor a new chapter, and then this person will report to me or Ryan about the progress, we can make a blog, so we won't have to use emails 24/7.  Plus then we can share pictures of the campus and such. For example, this blog right now!

So, i put together some agendas for the coming week and have them on scheduled release through email, this should make the process more efficient.  Let's plan on Monday @ 4pm in the Camps Center (by the info desk). Does this work for a weekly time for everyone? (Mike, Sam, and Ryan)

Because I feel like there might be some confusion in the air (which isn't a bad thing) Let's keep in mind out three goals:

1. Complete Budget    2. Website Revamp    3. 3 Month Outline for D.A.N. Global (this one should change soon, once it is complete)

Of course in each one of these topics there is alot of information, but let's keep these in mind. I am off to my Teacher's Assistant job, talk to you all soon!

Let's Keep In Touch

snootype.jpgI would like to try out this new method of keeping us all in touch. I really think that this will work well, plus it get us posting on our new soon to be totally awesome site!

So, here I will do my best to post a daily blog about work I did. If daily gets to be a little too much posting for not enough news to report on, I'll switch to Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday, Thursday. Let's see how it goes.

A quick fact for tonight. Donald Beachler was our IC D.A.N.'s first advisor, he is a history professor in the humanities and sciences department. If you have a chance to meet him, I highly recommend it, especially with presidential elections right around the corner!

Before our club officially had its first meeting we had an entire semester and a half of straight e-board meetings to get prepared for this journey. A lot of the fun we have today is because of the hard work of the original officers of 2005-2006 (Jeremy Tagliferre, Colleen Shea, Mike Unis, and Katy Schaffer). In 2006/07 Katy transferred to a new school.

Our second group of officers we Mike Unis, Katy Schaffer, Cornell Woodson, and Ryan Salisbury. This was for the year Fall 2006 to Spring 2007. In Fall of 2006 Cornell moved on to serve on other executive boards for student organizations at Ithaca College. Shortly after his departure Katy departed from her position of the executive board too. Akina Yokoyama and Reina Argueza quickly rose to take their place, and what an amazing job these two have done!

In the early years sometimes we have events straight for 7 or 14 days! All devoted to D.A.N., even entire D.A.N. weeks. We made flyers and put them on hundreds of tables in the dining halls about our organization. We even traveled to an elementary to put on skits and activities with the children. It was a very busy and fun time.

Well, I think this is it for now. It was great chatting with you. I look forward to my next post and I hope you have enjoyed learning more about our organization.
